Registration Requirements

East Sussex 1Space Directory is a directory for care, support and wellbeing services.

If you provide a service within this market you can register to promote your services for free.

To enter details onto East Sussex 1Space, you must first request registration. Once you have been accepted you can submit a service and choose the correct East Sussex 1Space registration requirements group for this service (see guidance notes on additional information).

East Sussex County Council has the discretionary right to refuse registration onto East Sussex 1Space and to remove a Service Provider from East Sussex 1Space at any time without notice.

For services that have no accreditation, the Authority will encourage and support these organisations to seek the appropriate accreditation through the Support With Confidence and the Buy With Confidence Schemes for the future. Absence of accreditation does not automatically exclude providers from marketing their services on East Sussex 1Space.

Your registration request will be processed according to the Requirements Categories:

1. Regulated personal care services

Regulated activity is any paid or voluntary activity which involves contact with children or vulnerable adults. Activities include but are not exclusive to:
  • Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care (Nursing and Residential Homes)
  • Accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse
  • Accommodation and nursing or personal care in the further education sector
  • Personal Care with exceptions
  • Domiciliary Care.

These services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Compulsory requirements:

  • CQC Registration
  • Uploaded copy of last CQC inspection report
  • Insurance Certificate.

Optional requirements:

2. Approved / Preferred / Contracted services

Services commissioned under contractual agreement from East Sussex County Council.

Compulsory requirements:

  • ESCC Reference Number

Optional requirements:

  • CQC Registration for Regulated services
  • Insurance Certificate
  • Training undertaken
  • Complaints policy
  • Professional memberships
  • Support With Confidence Membership.

3. Personal Assistants

Personal Care within the home

Compulsory requirements:

  • Basic DBS Disclosure (Must be less than 36 months old)
  • Two customer references
  • Evidence of Care Training
  • Public Liability Insurance (only a requirement for PAs who are self employed; employed PAs do not need to have this as their employer would be liable for arranging all insurances)

4. Unregulated Services

Care providers who are neither registered nor licensed by a regulatory body and who have no legally defined scope of practice. Unregulated care providers do not have mandatory education or practice standards.

Compulsory requirements:

  • Basic DBS Disclosure (Must be less than 36 months old)
  • Two customer references
  • Evidence of Care Training.

Optional requirements:

5. Activities outside the home – non-contracted / non regulated

Activities included within category (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Day services
  • Lunch Clubs
  • Adult Learning
  • Transport
  • Brokerage
  • Counselling.

Compulsory requirements:

Where appropriate:

  • Food hygiene certificate
  • Driving Licence & Insurance
  • Qualification to practice
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate.

Optional requirements:

  • Basic DBS Disclosure (Must be less than 36 months old)
  • Trained First Aider
  • Professional Memberships
  • Support With Confidence Membership.

6. Equipment, Services and Deliverables within the home (including property boundary)

Activities included within category (this list is not exhaustive):
  • Domestic Cleaning
  • Meals
  • Adaptations and equipment
  • Gardening
  • External property maintenance
  • Laundry and Shopping.

Compulsory requirements:

  • Basic DBS Disclosure (Must be less than 36 months old) Evidence of Training

Where appropriate:

  • Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate

Optional requirements:

  • Professional Memberships
  • Complaints policy Insurance.

7. Services provided to the home without any physical contact by the provider

Activities included within category (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Deliveries by Universal postage
  • Advice, Information and guidance by phone or post.

Compulsory requirements:

  • None

Optional requirements:

  • Professional Memberships
  • Complaints policy.

8. Regulated non personal care Services

Activities included within category (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Legal Services
  • Financial Services.

Compulsory requirements:

Registration where appropriate with:
  • Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
Or:
  • Financial Services Authority (FSA)

Optional requirements:

  • Professional Memberships
  • Complaints policy.

9. Local Community Networks

Non regulated activity provided within and for the local community.

Compulsory requirements:

  • Evidence of not for profit status
  • Clear declaration stating how the service functions
  • Clear declaration clarifying the requirements for signing up to your network – ensuring it is clear to Users of any training, references, DBS checks or other that are or are not required
  • A clear network Disclaimer - to be included in the Service Provider information on East Sussex 1space and, if appropriate, on the website being marketed.

 The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independant Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Servcie (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks.
